About this festival

As a part of Georgia Middle School-s social studies curriculum, students study Latin America, Europe and Russia throughout their 6th grade year. Then, in 7th grade, they study Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The images and illustrations of the world portrayed in school textbooks can be limited, abstract and/or remote. We created the Azalea International Folk Fair with the clear and definite mission of serving as an invaluable educational resource to supplement school textbooks and lessons with concrete expressions of the world-s rich diverse arts, culture and traditions. Azalea International Folk Fair promotes lively cultural exchange, provides richly diverse entertainment, and enriches the local social studies curriculum at the largest scale in Georgia State.
