Fairfield Women's Basketball Try For Fourth Straight Win Against Niagara

February 5, 2026 Fairfield. CT

About this festival

The Fairfield University (11-10, 6-6 MAAC) women-s basketball team wasted little time in achieving win number 601! On the heels of the January 28, 2016 history-maker which was the 600-victory milestone in the program-s Division I history in beating Rider, the Stags hit the road and won their third straight with a 68-60 road victory over Monmouth on Saturday in West Long Branch, NJ. It was their only road contest in an eight-game span. Fairfield returns home trying for its fourth straight win on Friday night, February 5, hosting Niagara (6-15, 4-8 MAAC) at Alumni Hall at 7:00 PM. WVOF Radio (88.5 FM) will broadcast. The Stags have won five of their last six under head coach Joe Frager. The Purple Eagles try to snap a four game losing skid. After starting the season 1-5 in the MAAC are an even 6-6 in conference play, and have inched above the .500 mark with their 11th win on Saturday. ?I was very happy with that,? said Frager. Kelsey Carey had a game-high 24 points, and Kristin Schatzlein scored 13 fourth quarter points to finish with 20. Samantha Cooper pulled down 10 rebounds. Schatzlein and Lizzy Ball each finished with seven assists. The Stags shot 53 percent from the field in the second half to fuel the comeback victory, after trailing 21-18 at the intermission. It was Fairfield-s first win at Monmouth since 1998. For ticket information, contact the Fairfield Athletics Ticket Office at [email protected] or (203) 254-4136.
