About this festival
Atlanta-s outrageously savory and oft-salacious annual event, BaconFest, is set to return in 2016, but to a brand new location - the 20-year-old theatre company's new home at 569 Ezzard Street, just off of Edgewood Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward. The 16th annual event takes place Saturday, March 26, 2016 and will be the first time Dad-s has hosted BaconFest since the great wrecking ball incident of 2013 (details below). For now, we urge bacon-lovers to keep that date open and their attention locked on Dad-s, as the innovative, comedic crew will be revealing juicy details in the coming weeks about the 2016 meaty extravaganza.
Founded in 1992, the kitschy festival has become a fixture in the Atlanta community by combining troughs upon troughs of cold beer and sizzlin' bacon with live performances by favorite local bands; hilarious carnival games manned by the best improvisers in the city; and unforgettable entertainment like a hobo wine tasting, naughty face painting, drunken spelling bee, a scavenger hunt, and more. Selling out every year, all proceeds benefit Dad-s Garage Theatre Company, a nonprofit theatre group that engages, cultivates and inspires artists and audiences alike by producing innovative, scripted and improvised works that are recognized locally, nationally and internationally for being undeniably awesome.
