Says the 84-year-old Pliskin: ?I made it this far because of the three loves in my life: geology, photography, and my wife of 62-years Berenice!"
Of Russian and Jewish decent, Bob spent his childhood summers at a ?Dacha? - translation "summer cottage" near Lake Mahopac. There his picturesque surroundings ignited a life-long interest in topography. After studying Geology at Columbia, Bob embraced landscape photography as his means of artistic expression.
As teachers, Bob and his wife, painter and textile artist Berenice Pliskin, spent summer vacations traveling to beautiful places. Their favorites were those where glaciers carved the landscape: right here in the Hudson Valley, as well as the American South West, Scandinavia, and the Western Highlands of Scotland, just to name a few. The loving couple has been married 62 years (1953). They met on March 21, 1953 on McDougal Street in Greenwich Village.
