Bear on the Square Mountain Festival

April 18, 2015 – April 19, 2015 Dahlonega, GA

About this festival

The 19th annual Bear on the Square Mountain Festival will be held April 18-19 in 2015. Held in Dahlonega, a picturesque town in the North Georgia foothills, the festival celebrates the culture of the Southern Appalachians. The well-attended weekend of music and art takes place in and around the town's Historic Public Square. Pre-festival events will occur on Friday, April 17, with the start of weekend-long jamming, as well as the Live and Silent Country Auction that night. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be free admission to on-stage performances by local, regional, and national musicians throughout the day in the MainStage Tent. The emphasis will be on bluegrass and old-time music from the Southern Appalachian region. A juried Artists Marketplace on Saturday and Sunday features traditional mountain crafts. Other weekend highlights of the event include storytelling, free music workshops/demonstrations, dance team performances, an Acoustic Open Mic event, Master Music Classes, and food.
