Empire City Casino hosts Kentucky Derby "Fancy Hat" Contest

The first Saturday in May and the ?Run for the Roses? brings on the ?most exciting two minutes in sports,? and Empire City Casino (810 Yonkers Ave. Yonkers, NY 10704) will continue its Kentucky Derby tradition when it hosts the annual ?Fancy Derby Hat Contest? on Saturday, May 2nd. Contestants will register between 2:00 and 4:00 pm trackside, wearing their fancy hats, which have become part of the Derby fabric as much as the big race itself. The winners will be announced at 5 pm, after being chosen by a blue ribbon panel of judges. The grand prize is $500 CASH and bragging rights; second place will take home $250 CASH, and third place will receive $100 CASH. All qualified hat contestants will receive a $10 Free Play coupon which can be redeemed at the promotions booth. Free Exacta Box on the Derby The first 700 Empire Club Members to visit the Gotham Palace promotions booth at 4 pm will receive one 2-horse exacta box for the Kentucky Derby.
