Fairfield Travels to Duke for Early Season Basketball Test

November 15, 2014 Durham, NC

About this festival

Head coach Sydney Johnson and his Fairfield Stags travel to Durham, NC, for an early-season test against the Duke Blue Devils at historic Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday (November 15). Tipoff is at 8:00 PM. (The Stags also play Friday at Central Connecticut in Hamden, CT). Here is Coach Johnson's preview: On the Venue: "‎Because of the legacy of Coach K. and the imprint that he has left on college basketball, Cameron Indoor Stadium has become one of the greatest venues in our sport. To have the honor and the challenge to play Duke is an experience ‎that will last a lifetime for our players at Fairfield." ‎ Bring the "A" Game: "‎Although every game is important, the goal of our program is to play our best basketball during tournament time...February and March. That said, we can't have anything less than our "A" game versus Duke because they're one of the best teams in the country. We'll have to be ready." On the Coaches vs Cancer Tournament: "‎The CvC tournament is another outstanding experience that our players will revel in. The national spotlight for hosting the event in our home arena is great for our University and for our recruiting. Above all else, we're helping to bring attention to fighting a disease that needs to be eradicated across the country." The Coaches vs Cancer Tournament will be hosted by Fairfield from November 21-23 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.
