About this festival
The annual '89er Days Celebration commemorates the Land Run of 1889 and the "birth" of Guthrie, OK. It begins with a Chuck Wagon Feast and Western Art Auction on Tuesday. Wednesday a HUGE carnival comes to town and 80 food and arts & craft vendors line the streets of downtown Guthrie. Thursday the downtown sports arena is the site of an Oldtimer Baseball game with period uniforms, equipment and rules. Friday signals the "Big Wheel" race for the kids and over 200 classic cars and motorcycles for the adults. A street dance finishes up the day downtown. At the fairgrounds, a family friendly rodeo has all the broncs and bull riding you want both Friday and Saturday night. Saturday starts with a "Stake Your Claim" 5K run through the city streets and at noon the Largest Parade in Oklahoma winds through downtown Guthrie. Sunday concludes the activities with a choir "sing-off" and an old fashioned picnic and concert in the park. Over 40,000 people will participate in the weeklong events.
