October 23, 2014 Yonkers, NY

About this festival

The Yonkers-based Aisling Irish Community Center held its 11th Annual Dinner Dance on October 3, 2014 and honored long-time Yonkers resident and employee of Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway, Ursula McIntyre. McIntyre will be recognized for her significant contributions to the local community, as well as the broader Irish-American community. McIntyre hails from Belmullet, Co. Mayo in Ireland, the eldest of nine children. Thirty-two years ago while working in the hotel industry, fate stepped in and introduced McIntyre to June and Timothy Rooney during their visit to Ireland. Rooney offered McIntyre employment in New York and McIntyre then became a resident of the City of Yonkers.   More than three decades later, McIntyre has held a variety of positions working for the Rooney family and has worked her way up the corporate ladder to become executive assistant to both Tim Rooney, president and CEO of Empire City, and general counsel, Tim Rooney, Jr. McIntyre also serves as Director of Parimutuel, overseeing the betting operations at Empire City-s Yonkers Raceway.
