NEWS 12?S PAT O?KEEFE, WCBS/SIRIUS RADIO?S JUSTIN SHACKIL TO DELIVER THE PLAY BY PLAY OF GRAND CENTRAL OYSTER FRENZY

Sports broadcasters Pat O-Keefe of News 12 and Justin Shackil of WCBS and Sirius Mad Dog Radio have called the play-by-play of virtually every sport imaginable ? from basketball to football soccer to baseball and softball to tennis, even throw in lacrosse for good measure, you name it! The duo will be called on take their skills to a new and unusual level when painting the word picture for oyster shucking, slurping oysters and beer shucking at the 12th annual Grand Central Oyster Bar this Saturday, September 27, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM. O-Keefe and Shackil will serve as co-Masters of Ceremonies at the Frenzy, taking delivering a pearl of play-by-play to those assembled at the bivalve bonanza open to the public at the iconic seafood eatery in Grand Central Terminal. O-Keefe serves as sports director for News 12 the Bronx and News 12 Brooklyn, and is a graduate of SUNY Brockport. Shackil in sports anchor at both WCBS News Radio 880 and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and is a product of WFUV Radio, Fordham-s public radio station. Seven-time champion Luis ?The Mexican Menace? Iglesius will try for yet another title at the Oyster Frenzy-s Professional Shucking Championships sponsored by Blue Island Oyster Company. Top competitors will face off in three rounds, vying for a grand prize of $3,000, and total purses of $3,750. For the shucking championships, the first round oysters will be Naked Cowboy oysters provided by Blue Island; the second round will be Blue Diamond oysters provided by K&B Seafood; and the championship round oysters will be Pickle Point provided by JP Shellfish. Chefs will showcase their culinary wizardry in demonstrations with public tastings. The lineup includes: Amitzur Mor, executive chef, Barbounia, New York City; Ben Pollinger, executive chef, Oceana, New York City; Marc Grossman, event chef, Blue Island Oyster Company; and Peter Fu, executive chef de cuisine, the Grand Central Oyster Bar. The public will compete in the SLURP OFF COMPETITIVE EATING COMPETITION (whoever slurps 12 oysters in the fastest time); the BEER SHUCKING CHAMPIONSHIPS sponsored by Blue Point Brewing Company.
