Grand Central Oyster Bar Celebrates "National Oyster Day" on August 5th

The historic Grand Central Oyster Bar (www.oysterbarny.com) has shucked a pearl of a time in celebration of National Oyster Day all day Tuesday, August 5. The coup de grace will be the 5:00 pm drawing for a luxurious pearl necklace and earrings sponsored by Staten Island-s Casale Jewelers (www.CasaleJewelers.net) ? Truly Unique! In addition, the Oyster Bar-s champion shuckers will demonstrate the art of shucking at 2:00 PM in the ?Lounge,? and a pair of bivalve specials ?Roasted Malpeque Oysters with Citrus-Ginger Butter ($11.95) and Chilled Wellfleet Oysters with Verjus Mignonette and Citrus Caviar ($13.25) will be featured. ?We are delighted to pay homage to the bivalve on this special day,? said Executive Chef Sandy Ingber, aka the ?Bishop of Bivalves.? Casale participated in the Oyster Bar-s Centennial Celebration last year when Noel Mangan gleefully slurped down the 100-millionth oyster in the history of the Oyster Bar at its ?Grand Centennial Celebration? on April 19, 2013, and was the was the lucky winner of a pearl necklace and earrings courtesy of Casale.
