Benaroya Research Institute Triathlon at Seafair

Athletes from all around the Pacific Northwest are swimming, cycling and running their way to fitness and athletic excellence in preparation for the Benaroya research Institute Triathlon at Seafair. Seward Park on Lake Washington serves as a pristine venue for this sprint-distance triathlon and offers an incredible experience for athletes of all ability levels. Come test your skills and achieve your goals on this flat, fast and scenic course!The “sprint distance” triathlon featured a ½-mile swim, 12-mile bike and 3.1-mile run.

 

Course Description 
The 1/2-mile Swim starts on the north shore of Seward Park and takes you on a triangular course (counter-clockwise) through the calm waters in Andrews Bay. Water temperature is expected to be in the upper 60s and wetsuits are allowed. Safety personnel will be present to assist if needed. Exit the water and head up the beach and onto the grass to the transition area.

 

The 12-mile Bike route leads participants out of Seward Park, traveling north on Lake Washington Blvd. Continuing on Lakeside Ave S., turn left onto Day Street to enter the I-90 Express Lanes service access road, near the West Portal. Once on the I-90 Express Lanes, cyclists continue until the turnaround located just past the entrance of the East Portal on Mercer Island. The return route is the same in reverse to the transition area.

The 3.1-mile Run will take participants on a clockwise tour of the lower loop of Seward Park. On the east side of Seward Park, runners will trek to the upper loop and back down before proceeding to the finish line in the parking lot on the south side of the park.
