DALLAS - Fine Arts Chamber Players announces the 2013-2014 Bancroft Family Concerts opening at the Dallas Museum of Art on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 3:00pm with a free performance by percussion ensemble D-Drum. The museum is located at 1717 North Harwood, Dallas, TX 75201. Admission to the concert is free with no reservations or tickets required. Auditorium doors open at 2:30pm for the 3:00pm concert. For more information, please call 214.520.2219 or visit www.fineartschamberplayers.org D-Drum is a percussion quartet featuring Dallas Symphony percussionists Doug Howard and Ron Snider, as well as local percussionist Ed Smith and percussionist/composer John Bryant. The quartet will play music derived from the traditional cultures of Bali, Africa and Persia blended with the influences of western classical and jazz forms. All of the music featured in this performance will be performed on acoustic and native instruments including drums, cymbals, gongs, wooden and bamboo xylophones. November 23, 2013 Schubert-s Best Franz Schubert's final work for chamber ensemble, Quintet for Strings in C major is universally acknowledged as one of the finest creations in all chamber music. Inspired by a trip to Italy in 1890, this string sextet was written as a musical remembrance of the sunny climate and friendly atmosphere of Florence. This performance of the sextet features members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. April 26, 2014 The Verlaine Trio An afternoon of beautiful trios by Beethoven, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn performed by The Verlaine Trio members violinist Maria Schleuning, cellist Jolyon Pegis and pianist Liudmila Georgievskaya. May 10, 2014 8th Annual Charles Barr Memorial Concert In memory of Dallas musician Charles Barr, 16 year-old Lewis Warren, Jr. will perform a program of piano favorites. Mr. Warren is an award-winning pianist and an accomplished composer, arranger, and improviser. Bancroft Family Concerts are made possible in part by the Sue & Christopher Bancroft Family, the Dallas Arts District Foundation, the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, TACA, the Texas Commission on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and WRR-FM Classical 101. For over 32 years, FACP has presented free classical music programs for the enrichment of North Texas area residents. In addition to the free Bancroft Family Concerts, FACP presents the free Basically Beethoven Festival in July. Each year, FACP-s educational outreach programs, Dream Collectors and Community Classics, provide over 500 free educational classes and performances in area public schools. Since its inception in 1981, FACP has served over 210,000 children and performed for over 535,000 residents of North Texas.
