(CHICAGO) Chicago-s Andersonville neighborhood will celebrate its vibrant art scene by showcasing the work of visual and performance artists in local businesses during the tenth annual ?Andersonville Arts Weekend? on Friday, October 5, Saturday, October 6 & Sunday, October 7, 2012. The highlight of Andersonville Arts Weekend is a self-guided art walk featuring work from mostly Chicago-based visual artists, shown throughout the neighborhood in galleries, restaurants, retail stores and other traditional and non-traditional art spaces. The walk will include a wide variety of painters, sculptors, photographers, and more, ranging from emerging artists to Chicago favorites. In addition, admission to Andersonville-s beloved Swedish American Museum (5211 N. Clark) is free all weekend! Artists featured during this year-s event will include: Daniel, Michael and Maureen Wynn of Square Nail Chicago exhibited furniture and stained glass at GreenSky (5357 N. Ashland); mixed media works by Paul Munro at Marguerite Gardens (5059 N. Clark); Rob Patterson showing paintings at The Coffee Studio (5628 N. Clark); the paintings of Carol Anshaw at Women & Children First Bookstore (5233 N. Clark); and sculpture by Matthew Runfola at Room Service (5438 N. Clark). Many regularly show in Andersonville businesses throughout the year. The art walk will be open on Saturday & Sunday from 11AM ? 6PM. Maps will be available throughout the week at participating Andersonville businesses. FEATURED EVENTS DURING ANDERSONVILLE ARTS WEEKEND: night of 100 pARTies! Always one of the busiest nights of the year on Clark Street, the weekend begins Friday, October 5 from 6:00-10:00 pm as over 25 Andersonville businesses feature great art, refreshments and entertainment during ?night of 100 pARTies?! There will be many artist receptions, including at the Andersonville Galleria, baan home, Milk Handmade, Urban Orchard, Unity Lutheran Church, and Woolly Mammoth Antiques & Oddities. In conjunction with Andersonville Arts Weekend, Famous Fido Rescue & Adoption Alliance is hosting their Andersonville Animal Rescue Weekend, which will also kick off Friday night at Famous Fido-s (5430 N. Clark). Las Manos Gallery After 19 years in Andersonville, Las Manos Gallery will be closing their doors at 5220 N. Clark at the end of October 2012. Join them for their final show, an exhibition of the core artists that have made the gallery such an important neighborhood cultural institution. Featuring the works of Juan Fernandez, Jason Hawk, Michael McGuire, Mark Pease, Michelle Peterson-Albandoz, and Tricia Rumbolz. www.lasmanosgallery.com. Edgewater Historical Society The Edgewater Historical Society, 5358 N. Ashland, celebrates their 10th anniversary during Andersonville Arts Weekend on Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. Musical entertainment provided by Eileen Censoitti, Ken Rebholz, and the Whipperwills. There will be special boards highlighting unique exhibits and events during the history of the museum, as well as photos of the many volunteers. In addition, the museum will host an exhibit of the Plein Air Painters, who set up on the sidewalks throughout the neighborhood and paint Edgewater scenes. www.edgewaterhistory.org. Theater in Andersonville Three Andersonville companies will offer live theater during Andersonville Arts Weekend. Recent neighborhood addition The pH Comedy Theatre (1515 N. Clark) will present a series of both scripted and improvised comedy shows. www.whatisph.com. The Neo-Futurists (5153 N. Ashland) hosts the opening weekend of ?44 Plays For 44 Presidents?, an election year update of their acclaimed ?43 Plays For 43 Presidents? from 2001. www.neofuturists.org. And Quest Theatre Ensemble, Chicago-s premiere free theater, presents ?Males Order Brides? with a special adults-only fundraiser performance on Friday, October 5th. www.questensemble.org.
