About this festival
Come to historic downtown Leeds, Alabama, and celebrate the roots, richness and variety of Alabama's culture Sept. 15-16. You can bring the whole family to the fifth annual Leeds Downtown Folk Festival and John Henry Celebration, featuring a juried art show and sale, live music, kids- activities, antique cars, food vendors and more. The centerpiece of the two-day festival is an outdoor play about the life of John Henry, the steel-drivin- man, who is believed to have won a contest with a steam engine and died in a railroad tunnel south of Leeds.
