About this festival
The 2012 Serenade! Washington, DC Choral Festival will feature a unique combination of exceptional choirs from around the world who have come to participate in the second annual Serenade! Festival produced by Classical Movements, Inc. The festival will offer an international concert experience for choral loving audiences in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.
The festival will feature 10 visiting choirs, 4 local host choirs , at least 14 concerts/events, 6 workshops/master classes, the world premiere of a newly commissioned piece, and several outreach exchanges with local groups/organizations. All choirs will sing music from their own countries including performances of several US premieres.
Each concert will be a tour around the world with music from South Africa, Australia, Czech Republic, Namibia, Colombia, Canada and two exceptional choirs from the United States.
Experience rhythmic African music from Imilonji KaNtu Choral Society and Voices of Namibia that will have you dancing in the aisles, fun and distinctive Aboriginal songs from Young Adelaide Voices from Australia, jazzy blues and brilliant a cappella arrangements from Countermeasure from Canada, the pure and angelic voices of several children choirs including Boston City Singers, Minnetonka Chamber Choir, Cantaré Children-s Choir, Colombian music from Verata e Liberi and folk and classical Czech songs from Zvonky-Praha.
With over 350 current participating singers from five continents, this one of a kind festival is not one to miss!
