?Biggest Losers? Couple book-signing Feb. 11 at The Woodlands Children?s Museum

About this festival
Phil and Amy Parham, contestants on the NBC TV show ?The Biggest Loser? in 2008, will make a special guest appearance at The Woodlands Children-s Museum at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The Parhams will offer their insights on health and fitness, while promoting their book, ?The 90-Day Fitness Challenge: A Proven Program for Better Health and Lasting Weight Loss.?
The faith-based, motivational book provides a 90-day plan to jumpstart permanent weight loss. Copies of the book will be on sale at the Children-s Museum, located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, and the Parhams will be available for autographs.
?We are delighted to host the Parhams at the Museum because what they are doing aligns perfectly with our alliance to Let-s Move, a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady Michelle Obama,? Angela Colton, executive director of the museum, said.
The Let-s Move program is dedicated to solving the problem of obesity so that children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams, Colton explained. The museum will be showcasing this information Feb. 20 and 21 for Get Fit Month at the Museum.
?Together with the Let-s Move program, the Children's Museum is dedicated to solving the problem of obesity,? Colton said. ?We are developing curriculum that will give parents helpful information that supports healthy choices for children.?
The Parhams are touring the country to promote health of the body and mind. They joined NBC-s ?Biggest Loser: Families? in 2008 and lost a combined total of 256 pounds?the highest percentage of total weight loss for a married couple in the history of the show.
Off camera, the Parhams struggled to navigate their son-s autism diagnosis. They tried several programs, but are convinced that LearningRx helped the most. The brain-training center uses educational assessments to customize a training program to improve cognitive skills for autistic children.
The Woodlands LearningRx and LearningRx Spring-Champions will host the Parhams for their Community Autism Resource Forum, scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The Forum will be held at the South Montgomery County Family YMCA at Creekside located at 6464 Creekside Forest Dr. in The Woodlands. The public is invited to attend the forum without charge.
The Parhams have made it their mission to inspire dramatic change in others ? whether it-s helping parents find the best resources for an autistic child or inspiring weight loss in a whole family.
?People will spend thousands on gym memberships, but how much more
important is it to think clearly?? Amy said. ?Everybody can benefit from sharpening their brain. There are all kinds of reasons to have a coach for your brain just like you have for your body.?
Creating fun ways to build cognitive skills is one of the main goals of The Woodlands LearningRx, a center that offers unique programs to transform a student-s ability to learn at a core level. The center is located at 4840 West Panther Creek, Suite 205. The Spring-Champions center is located at 8610 Louetta Rd in Spring.
