Kaboom Books to host art sale December 10

About this festival
For shoppers looking for unique gifts this year, Kaboom Books has the answer. Owners Dee and John Dillman are celebrating the local art scene by hosting an art sale featuring paper works by several Houston artists.
The show, open to the public, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Kaboom Books. The bookstore is located at 3116 Houston Avenue, Houston, 77009.
The Dillmans moved to Houston from New Orleans, where they had a succession of bookshops in the French Quarter. Kaboom Books is their first bookshop in Houston, and offers used books ranging from current to out-of-print titles.
?I like to think of our shop as a labyrinth of books,? Dee said. ?We have 83 different sections, principally fiction, literature, art, history and social and physical sciences. There is something here for everyone.?
The Dillmans are focused on the community and often host lectures, author readings and other special events at their shop. As a part of this outreach, Kaboom Books will showcase the local talent of artists including Justin Dunford, Lindsay Peyton and Jessica Jacobi among others.
?Kaboom isn-t just a bookstore; it-s a stepping stone into the community,? Lindsay Peyton, one of the featured artists, said. ?John and Dee regularly hold events that welcome regulars and newcomers.?
The original art on display and the vast variety of used books (many signed by the author) are the perfect alternative to the ordinary DVD or gift certificate. Each piece will be matted, framed and affordably priced.
