Gateway Design Open House Features Joint Artist Exhibition December 7

December 7, 2011 Houston, TX

About this festival

The new owners of Houston-based Gateway Design, Sanjay Parikh and Chris Norton, are celebrating the local art scene and the start of their new venture by hosting an open house and reception featuring artists Anne-Joëlle Galley and Mariam Khalili. The open house, open to the public, will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Gateway Design. The offices are located at 4299 San Felipe, Suite 110, Houston, TX 77027. Parikh and Norton acquired the company last March, giving it a whole new look. The new owners expanded capabilities which originally focused on print media to a sophisticated firm that uses cutting-edge media and high techery to design, animate, code and deliver targeted results. The office-s location, inside the Loop and near the Galleria also gives the company a unique perspective. ?Location is key. We-re at the center of one of the largest cities in the country, so we-re ideally situated to service local, national and international clientele,? Parikh explained. Apart from the business, the Gateway family is focused on the community, extending a helping hand to their neighbors whenever possible. As part of that mission, Parikh and Norton decided turn their offices into a temporary gallery to house the works of two of the city-s most colorful artists, Galley and Khalili. Galley, born in Mexico and formerly a resident of New York City, has worked in Houston for several years now. She has won international acclaim for her paintings, mono-types and prints with their signature bold colors. ?Anne-Joëlle-s pieces are a delight. They give light and freshness to any space,? Norton said. Khalili, a native Houstonian, creates abstract mixed media photography pieces. Her work is inspired by urban and industrial life and exudes a delicate balance between unusual and appealing visuals. ?Mariam-s work is inspiring. It has a graphic feel, yet intimate at the same time. Needless to say her pieces complement our work environment very nicely,? Parikh said. Galley and Khalili-s works are available for sale. The show is organized through Cadence Enterprise as part of its Art on Loan program.
