Lafayette, NJ
About this festival
Catalpa Ridge Farm is pleased to announce they will be holding their 9th Annual Heirloom Tomato Transplant Sale Memorial Day Weekend at Olde Lafayette Village. The sale will be held on Saturday & Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend (May 28th & 29th) from 10 am to 4 pm on both days. There will be a large variety of Heirloom tomato plants offered as well as a limited offering of some Heritage Hybrid varieties, the most famous of which is the Ramapo Tomato. This variety was known as the ?true Jersey tomato? 30 years ago and has not been commercially available for years. This will be our fourth year growing the very popoular Ramapo tomato and we have received great feedback. Pre-orders are encouraged for this popular variety as it will sell out early. Farmer Rich will also be offering the Moreton variety, which also was a favorite Jersey tomato and often referred to as the "4th of July" tomato.
There will also be a great selection of herb, eggplant, squash, cucumber, onions, artichokes & pepper plants in addition to the tomato transplants. These are grown by Susan & Richard Sisti of Catalpa Ridge Farm and as of this time, they have more than 90 different varieties of heirloom tomato plants growing to be offered at the sale on May 28th & 29th . Some old-standby varieties such as Pink & Yellow Brandywine, Rutger's and Yellow Pear will continue to be offered. Many new varieties have been added this year, such as TamiG, Trophy, Moonglow, Plum Lemon and Nyagous to name a few. Preorders will be accepted prior to the sale to be picked up during the day of the sale, this way you are assured your favorite variety as many popular varieties are sold out early. Anyone who wishes to see the current varieties that will be available are welcome to visit: www.jerseygrown.com for a complete listing and the ability to order online.
