5th Annual Scot Irish Hertiage Festival

About this festival

Lexington-s Fifth Annual Scots/Irish Festival will be held on Saturday, April 9th from 10am-5pm at the Maury River Middle School. Weather permitting, the event will be outside but moved indoors in the case of inclement weather. Beginning with a 10am parade, attractions are scheduled throughout the day and include Highland games demonstrations, Sheep dog trials, Medieval Reenactments, vintage British Cars (weather permitting), music, entertainment, food vendors with traditional food items, craft demonstrations and a variety of other vendors will offer Celtic goods such as leather works, silver, clothing, etc. Scheduled performers are Virginia Military Institute, Virginia Highland Pipes and Drums, Shenandoah Valley Pipes and Drums, Warpipe, Mary Smith, Carl Peterson and Cranruach. The overall goal of this event, which makes it different from others, is it highlights the history of the Scot/Irish in the Shenandoah Valley, through a living history which represent the culture and its importance to the Shenandoah Valley. Parking is free. The Lexington Lions Club is sponsoring the Festival, and all proceeds will benefit Lions Club Community Projects. Wear comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen and a blanket to relax on and enjoy the music.
