About this festival
WinterFest is a unique community celebration that takes place in Thornton on the second weekend in December. Some 20,000 visitors descend upon the Multipurpose Fields Park at 108th and Colorado Boulevard to wander throuogh a magical Winter wonderland village complete with miniature houses (built by parks elves), a huge, 40 foot, lighted, artificial evergreen tree, pathways and lanes constructed from mulch and crumb rubber, 425 lighted evergreen trees, outdoor and indoor (60 x 100 foot heated tent) performance stages (where local choirs and professional musical acts perform), a 4,000 sguare foot artificial surface skating pond (surrounded by decking, trees and plants), ice sculptures, a tree decorating contest in Wonderland Woods, Santa's House, craft fair, food vendors, fireworks and more!
