Sabor De Mexico Lindo Downtown Festival

An exciting ?All You Can Eat Taco Contest? will be one of this year-s main special-attractions for the 18th Anniversary presentation of ?Sabor De Mexico Lindo Downtown Festival? on October 1, 2 and 3. The ?Taco Contest? is part of the festive-plans celebrating the Festival-s tribute to ?Mexico-s Bicentennial.? Southern California-s largest three-day, free Downtown Street-Festival ?Sabor De Mexico Lindo? ? ?A Taste of Beautiful Mexico,? will once again be also presented as a salute to ?National Hspanic Heritage-Month? along Pacific Blvd. in downtown Huntington Park. The Festival-s special tribute ?Mexico-s Bicentennial? will be presented through art, music, food and dancing. It will include popular singing artists and musical groups performing live, combined with display areas of arts and crafts. The Festival will also include 160 commercial-exhibits, food and beverage booths, a petting-zoo and two carnival areas of amusement rides on 12 blocks along Pacific Blvd. Other family activities planned for the Downtown Festival include a ?Children-s Pi?ata Making Contest,? a ?Free Family Health Fair,? ?Children-s Bicentennial Coloring-Contest,? a ?Mariachi Music Festival,? at the ?Plaza De Mariachi,? plus headline-entertainment at the ?Stage Of The Stars,? on Pacific Blvd. at Belgrave Ave. The Festival annually attracts in excess of 500,000 people to Downtown Pacific Blvd. in addition to television, radio stations and news publications. Telemundo has agreed to be this year-s Television Sponsor. This major, downtown cultural-event, is organized and presented by The Greater Huntington Park Area Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the City. Again this year, the free-to-the-public festival is also being presented to showcase the culture and heritage of Mexico with special daily-activities scheduled for the entire family. The family festival will once again present the free cultural-pavilion known as ?Plaza De Mariachi,? featuring the appearances of live mariachi-groups serenading families daily in an atmosphere of palm trees, water fountain, a gazebo and benches for family-seating. Admission to the festival and the entertainment stage-areas is free.
