Africa Meets African America Cultural Arts Conference & Concert
About this festival
The purpose of this event is as follows:
To offer the community and nation at large a moderately priced cultural arts workshops, panels, and concerts.
To encourage immigrant relations within the community through arts based workshops in various dance/ drum forms of the African Diaspora, while educating youth and families about their own connection to the history/ culture.
Creating community as well as creating an expanded community through this tourism initiative that will reach out across the country, and draw an international audience into New York, specifically, Queens.
Performance conservation, expression, preservation, and unifying of the African and African American experience with these elements.
Creating dialogue. Examining the who, what, when, and the why. Providing an intellectual discussion of our artistic expression before, beyond, and in the 21st Century.
Creating a conference that not only addresses issues pertinent to adults and elders, but also has a component that is especially directed to the youth, their mode of learning, understanding, and relating. This conference allows them to have a voice.
My organization is a group of artists that have come together to act as arts advocates not through any other media than the arts. We are called, Ballet International Africans
