About this festival
Fourth annual educational Native American Pow Wow cosponsored by the W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir at the Ft. Hamby State Park. Lots of demonstrators and childrens activities at the Laura Pavilion. Pow Wow activities at the swimming area around the Dance Arena. Childrens activities with Ranger Juanita Souther and Mabel Benjamin include making a rain stick, a Gods Eye weaving, A dream catcher, A medicine bag or looking at the history and other posters around the walls. Pow Wow activities include dancing, drumming, singing, flint knapping, story telling, corn husk doll making, tee pees, etc. Come and stay all day.
Hours: The Park opens at 8 AM. The Pow Wow is Friday and Saturday 9 to 9 and Sunday from 9 to 5. Admission to the Park is $1 per person ($4 per car). The Pow Wow is $5 Adults and $2 Kids. Friday is Kids Day and Kids are FREE with the schools.
Directions: From Wilkesboro, NC take US421 north six miles to Milepost 293. At the Ft. Hamby State Park sign go south on South Recreation Road 1 mile to the Park entrance at 1534 South Recreation Road, Wilkesboro NC 28697.
