Skamania County Fair and Timber Carnival

December 8, 2009 Stevenson, WA

About this festival

The Skamania County Fair and Timber Carnival promotes and preserves what’s best in America. The last “free-gate” fair in the Northwest, the Skamania County Fair offers entertainment, family fun, and stability and comfort during uncertain economic times. Visitors to the event, annually held the second weekend in August, are invited to celebrate the agricultural foundation of scenic Skamania County. Enter the fairgrounds and one is treated to a treasure of 4-H, Open Class, and livestock exhibits, tasty treats, and thrilling carnival rides. The Timber Carnival is an amateur competition that celebrates logging as an integral part of our local heritage. This portion of the fair offers fun recreation and healthy competition to youth and adults while teaching forestry skills and the importance of our logging tradition. Other fairtime events include the annual talent show, downtown parade, and nightly firework displays. The beauty of the Skamania County Fair is that people of all ages gather to embrace old fashioned tradition, demonstrate their talents and hard work, and inspire us to achieve. Here we find a vision of hope, industry and pride that uniquely reflects the best in us all.
