Mighty Mud Mania
About this festival
The annual MIGHTY MUD MANIA event will be held on Friday, July 17th, from 8:30am to 2pm. This unique summer event designed for children 1 to 17 Years, will be held at Chaparral Park, 5401 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale. "Mighty Mud Mania" includes "The Original Mud Obstacle Course," a wacky obstacle course with mud pits strategically placed throughout the course, for youth 7-17 years old, as well as the “Mini mud Course” and “Mudville” for children 6 years and younger. Boys and girls ages 7-17 will compete against each other for the fastest time in The Original Mud Obstacle Course, in 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-17 year old age groups, in each heat. Ribbons will be awarded. The event begins at 8:30am, and children can line up in the start line any time between 8:30am and 1:30pm. Admission is free. Participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Vista del Camino Food bank or their old eyeglasses, to donate to the North Scottsdale Lions Club, for the visually impaired. The "Mini-Mud Obstacle Course" for children 6 years and younger, will be available from 8:30am to 2pm. We also have "mudville" (a town with mud hills, lots of fun toys, etc.) for the tiny tots; sand castle building, and bubbles. Mudpits will also be provided for the children to play in. Giant waterslides will also be available for the children, and a giant “water cannon” from the Water Movers will be available to keep everyone cool. The swim pool will be open from 11am to 3pm, as long as you bring a CLEAN swimsuit! Remember to send a towel & sunscreen with your child. Lots of shade will be provided, to keep spectators and participants as cool as possible. Scottsdale firefighters will be on hand with their water truck, to hose off all the muddy children. Outdoor showers will also help to wash off everyone. We suggest children wear old clothes and old gym shoes with laces to run the course. (Shoes and shirts MUST be worn to participate in the activity.) Various vendors will sell refreshments. Earplugs will be provided. Permission slips are required for all participants, and are available at any Scottsdale Park or Summer Program area.
