Join the Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra (MVSO) in celebrating spring with the tones and hues of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 and Mendelssohn's Overture for Winds. This concert will also feature The 2008 Clark Haines Concerto Competition winner, Kathy Murphy, as soloist for John Rutter's Flute Concerto. MVSO exists "to promote musical activities and programs for the cultural and educational benefit of the public" at a reasonable cost, making it accessible to the general public. The MVSO is a non-profit volunteer/professional organization that offers community instrumentalists of all ages and backgrounds an opportunity to study and perform orchestral literature. It is led by Dr. Kenneth Kohlenberg. Dr. Kohlenberg, Sinclair College professor, also leads the Community Concert Band, Community Wind Ensemble and Youth Wind Ensemble. The orchestra is nearing its 20th anniversary, having performed a varied popular repertoire. Proficient musicians are welcome to audition and join our musical family.
