International Festival of Animated Films AniFest

May 7, 2008 – May 14, 2008 Prague/CZ

About this festival

The International Festival of Animated Films AniFest, held in Třebon (Czech Republic), is a specialized competition film festival.

The mission of the festival is to promote the development of animated art and to present animated production in all its forms on a year-round basis, particularly through non-commercial screenings (Echoes of AniFest and AniFest at Schools), media promotion of international animation events and obtaining information to support the development of animation.

In addition to a week-long meeting over international animation production, AniFest strives to facilitate the best contacts among Central European artists who are engaged in animation. This year the CAS Presentation which is a comprehensive selection of Czech, Austrian and Slovak animated films was announced with this intention.
AniFest is not only about meeting over animated films with a serious face. Is also provides an opportunity to absorb the largest possible amount of the animated films’ essence – humour. The ability to be playful and at times return to one’s childhood: those are other festival faces. So is the children’s film competition, the Schools of Animation where children try their hands at making their very own first animated films or just pleasant moments in a cinema while watching a movie.
